MAISON KITSUNÉ SS27 IN PARIS FASHION WEEK
SPRING-SUMMER 2027 SHOW AT PARIS FASHION WEEK Presented on June 27th, 2026, in the gardens of Hôtel de Rohan during Paris Fashion Week, Maison Kitsuné unveils Urban Glide, the third collection by Creative Director Abigail Smiley-Smith.  For Spring-Summer 2027, Maison Kitsuné explores how to move through the city at the height of summer. Inspired by the ways people adapt to heat, light, and dense urban environments, the collection is built around three interconnected ideas: protection, water, and escape. The result is a contemporary summer wardrobe designed to protect, perform, and transition effortlessly between urban and coastal worlds.  The starting point emerged from conversations between Maison Kitsuné co-founder Gildas Loaëc and Abigail Smiley-Smith around the ways Japanese cities navigate increasingly intense summers. In particular, the collection draws inspiration from the protective garments worn by construction workers in Tokyo—lightweight layers designed to shield the body from sun and heat while remaining remarkably breathable. This observation evolved into a broader reflection on comfort, movement, and the relationship between the body and its environment.  Protection becomes both a practical and conceptual theme throughout the collection. Lightweight technical fabrics, breathable constructions, cooling materials, and generous silhouettes create a sense of shelter around the body without restricting movement. References to artists Christo and Do Ho Suh inform this exploration through ideas of wrapping, layering, transparency, and fluidity, influencing garments that blur the boundaries between clothing, architecture, and personal space.  Water serves as a guiding visual and material element across the collection. Reflections, waves, and shifting light inspire prints, jacquards, and textured surfaces, while a palette of luminous blues, ocean navies, mineral greys, sun-faded neutrals, and warm sandy tones evokes the contrast between cool urban shadows and heat-soaked summer landscapes. Gradient washes, bleached effects, and faded treatments further capture the impact of sunlight, time, and movement.  Maritime influences introduce both technical and aesthetic dimensions to the collection. Details inspired by lobster fishing nets, sailcloth, and marine tarpaulins are translated into textures, constructions, and functional design elements. References to surfing and diving apparel bring a performance-driven approach, resulting in pieces such as cooling garments, a heat-reactive windbreaker, and a heat-reactive Triangle Tote that respond directly to environmental conditions. Extending Maison Kitsuné’s Paris-to-Tokyo perspective, the collection also draws inspiration from Desa Kitsuné, the brand's lifestyle destination in Bali. The relaxed rhythm of island life is reinterpreted through an urban lens, creating a wardrobe that balances functionality, comfort, and escapism. Rather than opposing city and nature, Urban Glide explores the fluid transition between the two. This season also introduces a series of collaborations that further enrich the collection's narrative. Japanese artist En Iwamura reimagines Maison Kitsuné's iconic fox as a symbol of movement and transformation. Appearing across ready-to-wear, accessories, and the show's scenography, the character creates a playful dialogue between nature and city, tradition and modernity.  A live choir performance reimagines a selection of iconic electronic tracks through striking vocal arrangements. Drawing on Maison Kitsuné's deep-rooted connection to music and the legacy of our label Kitsuné Musique, the performance offers a surprising reinterpretation of contemporary club culture, transforming familiar sounds into a powerful collective experience.  With Urban Glide, Maison Kitsuné proposes a contemporary summer wardrobe shaped by adaptation and ease, balancing technical innovation and everyday elegance through its distinctive Paris-to-Tokyo lens.

MAISON KITSUNÉ SPRING-SUMMER 2026
MAISON KITSUNÉ UNVEILS THE SPRING–SUMMER 2026 COLLECTION, THE FIRST BY CREATIVE DIRECTOR ABIGAIL SMILEY-SMITH   Voyage Vestiaire, the collection takes inspiration from the perspective of a Japanese traveller rediscovering Paris. Through this narrative, Maison Kitsuné explores the encounter between Parisian elegance and Japanese refinement, blending tradition and modernity in a wardrobe that feels at once familiar and new.  “At Maison Kitsuné, I wanted to express a Paris that is constantly reinvented through the eyes of an outsider — both curious and reverent,” explains Abigail Smiley-Smith. “The collection is about building a functional yet poetic wardrobe that reflects this dual heritage of Paris and Tokyo.” The silhouettes are clean, fluid and versatile, designed to adapt seamlessly from day to evening. Menswear reinterprets Parisian preppy classics with technical fabrics and precise tailoring, while womenswear balances structure and movement, capturing the rhythm of contemporary city life. Wardrobe staples such as the Mac coat, barn jacket and coach jacket are reimagined with utilitarian details, inspired by hunting and fishing garments, while maintaining a refined, urban attitude. Craftsmanship and texture play a central role in Spring Summer 2026. Innovative fabrics — from crinkled poplins to Japanese cotton blends and lightweight technical seersuckers — bring depth and relief, enhancing both comfort and elegance. Colors evoke the warmth of Parisian summer afternoons: earthy neutrals, pale greens, and delicate blush pinks, accented by prints referencing Paris’s cultural heritage, from Art Deco motifs to gallery-inspired graphics. With this first collection, Abigail Smiley-Smith establishes a new creative chapter for Maison Kitsuné, reaffirming its identity as a house rooted in Paris–Tokyo duality, where timeless elegance meets contemporary experimentation. DIscover the collection in boutique at The Exchange TRX.
